Geocaching

Grandma (my mom) gave our family money for Christmas to buy a Geocaching GPS system and today we tried it out for the first time. Its like a great treasure hunt! Here we are looking for and then finding our first cache.

Bringing in the New Year!

We had a fun New Years Eve celebration. The Contos family (Harry, Charmaine, Emily, Elizabeth, Timothy, Robin) joined us as did Garry and Peggy Buzzard and their friend, Kana. We played games, watched the Airdrie fireworks from our backyard, and fondued. Then for midnight, we rolled out 12 feet of bubble wrap on our hardwood floor and STOMPED them! What a noise! What a blast!

What a Holiday!

We have enjoyed many people through our home this holiday season and visited with friends and family. We held our first Christmas Open House on December 22 and had over 40 drop by! Christmas Eve we attended the candlelight service at Bow Valley and then came home to open the traditional Christmas Eve gifts.Christmas Morning...
Kazzie enjoyed her gifts (mice), too.

Dallas made Travis a suit of chain-mail and a sword.

The Lammiman extended family came for Christmas Day (19).

On the following Friday we traveled to Edmonton. We spent a few pleasant hours visiting our friends, the Pops, and then met my sister Janelle and her family at the home of my sister Tammy and her family. We played games and the little cousins exchanged gifts. Dallas made Connor his own set of swords and Connor was very excited!
On Saturday, the adults all went out for brunch while Shalayne and Travis babysat the little cousins.

Recipe for a Happy New Year

Take 12 fine, full-grown months; see that these are thoroughly cleansed from all old memories of bitterness, hate, and jealousy.

Cut these months into 30 or 31 equal parts. (This batch will keep for one year. Do not attempt to make more than one batch at a time-many people spoil the entire lot in this way.)

Prepare one day at a time as follows:
Into each day, put
12 parts of faith
11 of patience
10 of courage
9 of work (some people omit this ingredient and spoil the flavor of the rest)
8 of hope
7 of fidelity
6 of open-mindedness
5 of kindness
4 of rest (leaving this out is like leaving the oil out of the salad-don't do it )
3 of prayer
2 of meditation and
1 of well-selected resolution.

If you have no conscientious scruples, add a teaspoonful of good spirits, a dash of fun, a pinch of folly, a sprinkling of play, and a heaping cupful of good humor.

Pour love liberally into the whole, and mix with strength. Cook thoroughly in a warming heat. Garnish with a few smiles and a sprig of joy; then serve with quietness, unselfishness, and cheerfulness - and a Happy New Year is a certainty.
